This is the Brazilian city on the border of the Iguacu falls and is the 7th largest city in the state of Parana. The city is famous for its tourist attractions and cultural diversity with over 80 different cultures staying together in one city. Apart from the falls there are a number of places worth watching in Foz do Iguacu.

Just before the Rio Iguacu flows into Rio Parana, it narrows down and then forms a semi-circle of 247 falls plummeting down into the gorge below offering a mystical scenery. This can be viewed from a helicopter and various other viewpoints. A footbridge leads to Garganta da Diablo, one of the largest falls.

This is the largest forest reserve in the country and the only forest reserve to spread over two countries. This natural reserve has been a home to 1100 species of birds, and mammals namely deer , otters, etc. This park has been under UNESCO protection since 1986 and the falls lie within this park.

The national Park Museum is another interesting place for tourists and it displays many kinds of rock specimens from the surrounding region. A section is also reserved for the display of flora and fauna from the surrounding regions.

Itaipu Hydro Electric Station

This was a leviathan project undertaken during the military dictatorship. The 18 turbines are powered with water from lake Parana in the north and is the largest hydro electric power station in South America.

This is the place where the borders of three countries, Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay come to meet. This is also the place of the confluence of Iguacu and Parana. This position offers a panoramic and marvelous view of the surrounding area giving a colorful venture about the Amazon foliage.

This park is very close to the reentrance of the falls, and this is an ecological sanctuary, spread over a 17 hectare area. A footpath leads one to the numerous aviaries stocked with 900 different kinds of birds all belonging to different species.
