Explore Chile from tip to toe on this fabulous itinerary featuring the most remarkable natural jewels of the Southern Cone. First you will visit the incomparable Torres del Paine National Park, where you will be trekking, hiking, boating or horseback riding around imposing peaks, waterfalls and blue lagoons. Then you will move to the incomparable Atacama Desert, where you will be offered a dream menu of outdoor activities ranging from crawling through caves, to galloping across imposing valleys to biking to ancient Indian villages. During the trip you will be lodging at exquisite lodges featuring fabulous accommodations, gourmet cuisine and a fantastic menu of daily activities and excursions.
1 Arrive in Chile (Santiago)
After collecting your luggage, proceed to the reception area, where our guide will be holding a board with your name on it. You will be greeted with a “Bienvenidos a Chile” and transferred to your hotel in the capital city. The rest of the day is free to rest after the long haul flight or start exploring the surroundings on your own.
2 To Torres del Paine with a stop at Milodon Cave (Torres del Paine)
Our explorations bring us today to one of the most outstanding natural monuments in South America: Torres del Paine National Park. You will fly into Punta Arenas and then take an overland transfer along the dramatic Patagonian wilderness, observing herds of sheep and beech forests before arriving in Puerto Natales. From Puerto Natales continue on a gravel road to the national park. En route you may stop at the Milodon cave, a huge cavern where you can admire the remains of a prehistoric animal.
3-5 Exploring Torres del Paine (Torres del Paine)
Our properties have carefully developed a comprehensive menu of explorations and outings. Each day you can choose from different excursions, which are programmed according to weather conditions, guests’ preferences, duration and degree of difficulty. Tours range from hiking and trekking expeditions to horseback rides, mountain biking and panoramic tours by van. Areas visited include volcanoes, ancient fortresses, Indian villages, geysers, salt flats, hot springs, the amazing Moon Valley and many others. All explorations are led by expert, bilingual guides, include all necessary equipment and are reduced to a maximum of 10 people per guide.
6 Leave the hinterlands and depart for the capital city (Santiago)
This morning bid farewell to the incomparable Torres del Paine National Park. We travel to Punta Arenas along the Patagonian steppes in order to catch the plane back to Santiago. The evening is at leisure.
7 The driest desert in the world (San Pedro de Atacama)
Today travel northbound to Calama where our local representative is waiting to drive you to your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama. The day is at leisure for you to start exploring the Atacama Desert, the driest in the world, where no rain has been recorded for over 400 years or take advantage of your hotel’s facilities.
8-10 Uncovering the treasures of Atacama (San Pedro de Atacama)
Our properties in Atacama have carefully developed a comprehensive menu of explorations and outings. Each day you can choose from different excursions, which have been selected according to weather conditions, guests’ preferences, duration and degree of difficulty. You can hike to natural hot springs, crawl through caves, trek along La Sal Range, crossing rivers and descending through gigantic sand dunes, or climb a volcano. You may also saddle up and visit an ancient fortress or gallop across the imposing Death Valley. By mountain bike you can explore gorges, lagoons and Indian villages. Finally, overland expeditions offer visits to unique landscapes such as Tatio, the largest geyser field in the world or the eerie Valley of the Moon, where sunsets are incomparable. All explorations are led by expert, bilingual guides, include all necessary equipment and are reduced to small groups per guide.
11 Bid farewell to Atacama (Santiago)
After a morning excursion you will be transferred to the city of Calama in order to board the flight back to Santiago. Balance of the day at leisure. At night we recommend you visit the Las Condes District and dine in one of the trendy restaurants.
12 Depart Santiago
