I’ve got a terribly soft spot for Finland and thoroughly enjoyed member Velvet Escape’s recent post Inside the Snow Village, describing the annual snow village that gets built in the forest between the resorts of Ylläs and Levi in Finnish Lapland.
I can’t imagine how frustrating it must be for the designers and artists who put the finishing touches on the snow village’s main components of hotel, ice bar and wedding chapel, putting in all that effort as winter starts up only to see their work melt away as it ends!
As a visitor, though, it must be a fascinating and unique experience – especially if you stay overnight in the ice hotel. Apparently the temperature remains stable so with the thermal sleeping bags provided you can survive quite comfortably!
